CC HQ CEO Ryan Merkley to deliver free Open Access events

Ryan Merkley, the CEO of Creative Commons HQ, is visiting Aotearoa from Canada in November to wish CCANZ a happy tenth birthday. While he’s here, we’re putting him to work!

Please come to either or both of these free events in Auckland, and help us spread the word.

Join Creative Commons international Chief Executive Ryan Merkley and CC Aotearoa NZ Public Lead Mandy Henk for a lively discussion of the value of our home-grown Open Access movement: where we’re at and where we’re headed.

This session is part of NetHui Day Zero and is sponsored by InternetNZ. Please join us for afternoon tea beforehand from 3pm.

Let’s talk Open Access strategy!

When: Thursday 9 November, 5:30 to 7pm
Where: University of Auckland
Between the cost of textbooks for students and the cost of research materials for academics, there’s real room for common cause in the world of information.

How can we best work together? What issues make sense for us to focus on? How can we collaborate to build a new kind of information economy?

Please come and join us for an evening with Creative Commons international Chief Executive Ryan Merkley to hear his perspective on the opportunity, challenges, and moral imperative for Open Access from a global perspective. Ryan is visiting us from Canada and will only be here for a brief visit–let’s make the most of his expertise while he’s here.
Ryan’s lecture will be followed by an open strategy meeting to discuss how we can apply this to our local context here in Aotearoa. Please plan to stay and share your ideas, thoughts, and hopes.
