Meet our new Public Lead

CCANZ has a new Public Lead: Mandy Henk, who introduces herself here. Mandy is based in Auckland and you can get hold of her on either mandy@creativecommons.org.nz or 022 426 8970. Welcome Mandy!

Thanks to Keitha Booth

Very grateful thanks to Keitha Booth for stepping in as the Interim Public Lead after Matt left over a year ago. We really couldn’t have kept going without you.

Free CC / NZGOAL workshop

On 26 June in Wellington we’re re-running our very successful free workshop for public servants that focusses on opening up publicly funded copyright works through CC and the NZ Govt Open Access & Licensing framework. All welcome. Please spread the word. More info and register here.

Welcome to Rachel Hamilton-Williams

We are also welcoming Rachel Hamilton-Williams to the CCANZ Advisory Panel, who takes over the business and technology portfolio from Dave Lane. Welcome Rachel!

Upcoming events

CC Global Summit

Elizabeth and Mandy were both able to attend the 2017 Creative Commons Global Summit in Toronto in April. Elizabeth reports back here.

CCANZ Wellington office move

We are very grateful to LIANZA, who stepped in last year to give us free desk space in their Wellington office. CCANZ has now moved in with Rabid Technologies at 50 The Terrace.

NZ Music Month & CC

Our friends at the Alexander Turnbull Library put together another of their excellent mix tapes of openly licensed Kiwi music. Have a read and a listen here.

CC around the world

If you want to stay up to date with developments in open policy around the world, CC HQ has this mailing list (it is a bit US-centric but the digest is handy). I40C aims to open up academic citation data. The campaign for Fair Use in Australia is well underway. The Unpaywall browser extension checks for freely available versions of academic papers that are also behind paywalls.
