We’re thrilled to have published  A Quiet Revolution: Growing Creative Commons in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The past few years have seen a quiet, relatively well behaved, and entirely legal revolution in Aotearoa: the growth of a thriving Commons of works made available under Creative Commons open copyright licences.

A Quiet Revolution tells Kiwi stories as diverse as open source houses, teachers banding together to share resources, government departments making their data available for anyone to use, and artists sharing their work in a spirit of collaboration and community — and shows how something as seemingly dry as copyright licensing can have profound impacts on our society, culture and economy.

If you’ve ever wondered how copyright applies to you, how Creative Commons actually works, or why so many people choose to use Creative Commons licensing, then here are the answers.

Download your copy of A Quiet Revolution now for free as either an epub, a Kindle file or a pdf from the Internet Archive or meBooks.co.nz (Aotearoa’s ebook store). You can also grab your free ebook copy of A Quiet Revolution from the Kobo store or epubBooks.com.

Or, if it’s a print copy you’re after, head along to your local library — we’ve donated copies to every public library in New Zealand. Happy reading!

Hi CCANZ Team, I am really looking forward to reading this book! I have downloaded the file however my computer is unable to open it. Is it possible to make the book available on pfd?
    Thank you.

Hi Keri – probably, though Elizabeth has *just* left for Christmas! She has the software to do the export to PDF, though won’t be back till early Jan.

In the meantime, you can download an add-on for your browser to read on the computer. Just google ‘epub reader + browser name’ and you’ll get a few options. This will let you read in your browser – the one I use in firefox works quite well.

Thanks for your interest in the book!
      Matt
