Mike Wolfe of the Authors Alliance is coming to NZ

We’re thrilled to welcome Mike Wolfe of the Authors Alliance to Aotearoa for a few days this month. Michael Wolfe is the Executive Director of Authors Alliance and a Copyright Research Fellow at the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology. He is a copyright attorney licensed to practice in California.

The Authors Alliance is a prestigious international not-for-profit organisation based in the USA. It supports authors to ensure their works reach the broadest possible audiences and have the greatest impact. Joining is free, and you can get help with a range of issues surrounding publishing, such as copyright and fair use, publication agreements, open access publishing, and reversion of rights.

If you’re in Auckland or Hamilton, please come along to one of Mike’s lectures or workshops.

The workshop will be of interest to those working in the academic or information environments, including teaching staff, researchers, students or library professionals. The workshop during the day and evening lecture are suitable for those developing their understanding of the issues surrounding publishing, such as licensing, copyright, the TPPA,  fair use, rights retention, dissemination of information, or for those wishing to delve more deeply into specific aspects.

Mike will be part of a panel discussion. For writers, contract and copyright knowledge is essential. It’s never too late to find out how copyright and contracts can work best for you, whether you have already published or plan to. This session will give you the lowdown on how to manage your copyright, how to use creative commons, tips to recognise a scam or a dodgy publishing deal and the principles of a fair publishing contract.
